Why I Love Breathwork
If someone asked me why I love breathwork, I could probably talk about it for hours.
Not because it's complicated.
Quite the opposite.
What I love most is that it is incredibly simple, and yet it has such depth.
Breathing is something we all do every single day without thinking about it. Yet when we begin to breathe with intention, something beautiful starts to happen. We begin to reconnect with ourselves.
For me, breathwork isn't about fixing people. It isn't about forcing change or chasing some perfect version of ourselves.
It's about creating enough space for the body to soften.
Enough space to let go.
Enough space to remember who we already are.
One of the things that still amazes me is that no two people ever have the same experience.
Even when people are breathing together in the same session, listening to the same music and following the same guidance, every journey is unique.
Some people feel deeply relaxed.
Some people gain incredible clarity.
Some people release emotions they didn't even realise they were carrying.
Others simply enjoy time that is completely theirs.
There is no right experience.
Only your experience.
I also love how practical breathwork can be.
Life doesn't suddenly become stress-free because we wish it would.
We all have busy weeks, challenging conversations, responsibilities, unexpected setbacks, and moments where life simply feels overwhelming.
Breathwork gives us the opportunity to pause before stress becomes something we carry everywhere.
You might choose a session at the beginning of the week to help you feel grounded.
Perhaps one in the middle of the week when everything starts gathering pace.
Or maybe at the end of the week, allowing yourself to release everything you've been holding so you don't carry it into your weekend.
For me, Sundays have become a little ritual.
Now that my children have all flown the nest and are busy at university, I love creating a gentle Self-care Sunday.
A little yoga.
Some breathwork.
A walk if the weather allows.
Time with family if they're around.
Time with myself if they're not.
This week, however, it's Self-care Football Sunday! ⚽
And that's the beauty of self-care.
It doesn't have to look the same every week.
It simply asks us to notice what we need.
As a confidence and visibility coach, people are sometimes surprised that breathwork sits at the heart of my work.
But to me, it makes perfect sense.
When our nervous system begins to feel safer, it becomes easier to speak up, set boundaries, be ourselves, and show up in life and business with a little more ease.
One of my favourite reminders is this:
Sometimes the mind needs to understand. Sometimes the body simply needs permission to let go.
That's why I love breathwork.
It continues to remind me that healing doesn't always have to be complicated.
Sometimes the deepest shifts begin with something we've had with us all along.
Our breath.
